Kanakanaka is a "fun" made up word. (Originally it was a nickname for a sailor from a whaling ship stopping at a Hawaiian port.) It's got a lot of mouth movement to it, which is good for your young child to try and master. Some songs have lyrics (words), some songs have just--sounds. Songs with sounds can be helpful for your child to not think about the language aspect of a song and just focus on singing.
